we use check in check out with our at risk students and they develop connections that last
Know Me-Know My Name
We have an advisory structure that loosely does check in and check out
We meet weekly with our mentees to see how they are doing. We have this in both 5th and 6th grade to allow us to have talking circles and one on one meetings.
At this time we are only providing a link to the recorded webinar.
BBBS in school
We partnered with a church and trained the members how to work with our students.
Greatest success came from choosing a mentor specifically for a student.
We had about 60 senior citizens act as mentors for our 2 & 3 graders who were struggling with SEL issues.
we use our advisory structure
We use CICO.
We’ve done peer mentoring
check in check out with at risk students
As part of relationship mapping, we advised which students are the least connected and then pair them with a teacher mentor.
We have a teacher check-in and check-out for students
My school has used check in/check out and it has been very successful with students who meed behavioral and academic support.
we have used CICO with several students and teachers in jr high have a period to mentor certain students
One on one feedback
peer to peer mentoring with upper classmen called pride
We use CICO
We have "buddies" where we pair older elementary classrooms with younger elementary classrooms
we utilize CICO but it's not super effective. And we have a mentoring program that we hope to make more of a Tier 2 intervention by tying it to data.
It depends on the level of mentoring a student needs. Some need daily CICO and some need weekly. I have done check and connect with students who need more involvement. Sometimes we just meet for lunch once a week and check everything together!
All hands on deck with building staff….including custodial staff, administrative assistant staff, etc
Check in/Check out for PBIS
We’ve had Big Brothers from a local university work in small groups and 1 on 1 meetings
First class and Last Class/Homeroom for our classes were Check In / Check Out for our Jr. High this year and it worked great!
we asked for staff to volunteer to be mentors who connect with students once per week (elementary school)
Support One Student (SOS) Each teacher has one student that they mentor.
As a method of expanding the opportunity for support throughout the school - many adults, not just the school counselors, SW, etc.
we also use athletic programs
